What to expect on a weekend with us

Saturday

  • 10AM – Gather at The Salty Rose Apothecary in Rosedale, NY (for carpooling if needed) and for opening circle

    • Or directly at the location we will be visiting (i.e. trailhead for a botany walk, farm we are touring)

  • 10:15-1:15 - Walk/botanize/harvest/possibly with a guest teacher

    • Meeting the herbs through our senses! We will be smelling, nibbling, touching, observing and listening

    • This will be very hands on! We will be mindfully digging roots, snipping leaves, collecting flowers, etc.

    • We will be discussing Plant ID and how to harvest in a sustainable, regenerative, and reciprocal way.

  • 1:15-2:15 - Lunch!

    • Pack your own

    • Seasonal teas will be supplied

  •  2:15-3:15ish - Processing/Garbling/Medicine Making

    • Examples:

      • Wild green juices

      • Wild green pesto/chimichurri/other food prep

      • Fresh plant tinctures/glycerites

      • Honey Infusions

      • Fresh vinegars and oxymels

      • Syrups

      • Hydrosol

      • Dried for tea

      • Dehydrated for grinding/processing the following day

      • Wilted for oil infusing the following day

      • Etc.


Sunday

  • 9AM - Gather at The Salty Rose Apothecary, Rosendale, NY

    • Morning tea/green juice will be served

  • 9:15-12 - Medicine Making Continued

    • Examples:

      • Oil Infusions

      • Tinctures/oxymels/glycerites

      • Mushroom Tinctures

      • Salves, creams, and lotion bars

      • Decoctions or syrups

      • Herbal seasonings

      • Herbal sugar and salt scrubs

      • Intro to Distilling

      • And beyond!

  • 12-1 - Lunch!

  • 1-3:45 - Medicine Making Continued (yet again!)

    • The afternoon will be a combination of wrapping up existing projects from the weekend and straining infusions from the previous month(s).

  • 3:45-4 - Closing Circle
